About Me

My former life was all about activity.

Being a wife and raising 3 amazing daughters. Volunteering. Church. And sports... coaching and participating, training others and myself.

I ran like it was my job. Snow skied all over North America. Played some 5.0 tennis. And lived at the gym.

Get the picture?

My work didn't seem like work at all. Being an ACSM Certified Trainer, I took my passion to others, teaching them why fitness matters and how to be practical and healthier at the same time.

My other 'job' was just as much fun! My work as a Master Level Consultant for the Clinique Division of the Estee Lauder Corporation was more like going to a makeup party! I had planned to continue this gig until the day I die, but God had other plans for me.

I was diagnosed with a very rare muscle disease in 2011. I had been noticing increasing muscle weakness and inability to run. This news was devastating to me and I went under for awhile.

But the same spirit that drove me prior to my diagnosis is re-emerging, as I have managed to come to terms with my new life. And it is a new life, for sure.

And I write. I write to share my experiences with you because maybe it'll help you to know someone else knows what you're going through. I also write to express myself and rid myself of the demons that sometimes find their way in.

I've been featured on other blogsites and published in various other publications. This is a shock to me. I never knew I could write anything anyone would care about!

Since my spirit is now overcoming my physical limitations, I have begun the search for new activities...things I can do, instead of focusing any longer on things I can't do.

In the past year, I have taken up paddle boarding and learned to shoot a Glock 9 mm.

Next up I'll be returning to sailing and trying my muscles at kayaking. Yes, I love the ocean and I live at the beach. It's where I'm the happiest...
