Rollers

Today I'm asking the question, What is a Roller?

There are lots of kinds of rollers in the world. For years, women have put them in their hair to make curls.

Some people are referred to as high rollers because of the amount of money they spend in the clubs, on cars and jewelry or gambling in places like Vegas.......People like JLo and Pitbull sing songs about them...."Let me introduce you to my party people... in the club....dahling....Get on the floor!"

Let's not forget the more industrious types of rollers, like lint rollers, paint rollers, rollers of the John Deere variety, and rollers for smoothing out dough called rolling pins....
...finally, we have our roller coasters, roller blades, birds called rollers, roller derbys, roller skates, roller waves, roller hockey and holy rollers!

What would life be without rollers?!? Hahaha!!

I'm a roller too! According to Dictionary.com, a roller is "a person or thing that rolls." Don't you like that? It's short and sweet and says all it needs to say. Of course, people are bundles of personality, needs, desires, thoughts, emotions, words and actions, all of which make us beyond complex, but a Roller is all of this on wheels! On Wheels! Yessssssssss! Wheeeeeeeeeee!

I don't know what you think of the word Roller, but I personally like the way it rolls off my tongue. (Sorry) It's concise and descriptive. I think it gives me more drama and flair and a certain "je ne sais quoi." Rollers go fast or slow. We can be thoughtful or impulsive; frivolous, fun and industrious. We're able to roll it with an edge like skateboarders and rollerbladers or roll it with swag, like the high rollers. And some of us can roll it with the elegance and style of a royal princess.

So, what do you think? Rollers are waaaaay more cool than those poor people who are 'in a chair,' or "confined to a wheelchair." I reject the mentality that wants to put me there. Maybe I could live with being called a 'wheelchair user,' but that's twice as many syllables to say as Roller and doesn't sound like nearly as much fun!

Now if I can just figure out a substitute for the word disabled...
